The Estate

In the heart of Italy, between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany, lies Castello di Santa Cristina a historic residence surrounded by over 100 hectares of unspoiled nature, with views stretching across Monte Amiata and Lake Bolsena.

Just a few steps from the castle lies the ancient rural hamlet, once the centre of the estate’s farming life. Today, the old stone houses and farmhouse have been lovingly transformed into welcoming cottages and rooms, furnished with antiques and pieces from the castle itself.

The estate offers a wide range of spaces and activities for relaxation and outdoor living:
a panoramic swimming pool, a tennis court, an equestrian centre for scenic horseback rides, a yoga room, a massage room, a small football field, a games room for families and children, and many more spaces around the estate.

A perfect place to experience the essence of the Italian countryside between nature, sport, and tranquility.

The History of the Castle...

Castello di Santa Cristina, built in the 18th century, belonged to the noble Caterini family and holds a remarkable story.
In 1848, during a time of great tension in Rome, Pope Pius IX was forced to flee, and Cardinal Prospero Caterini, one of his closest advisors, took on the mission to save the Church’s most precious treasures and documents.

With a caravan of carriages, the Cardinal transported them to Castello di Santa Cristina, where they were kept safe before continuing their journey to Gaeta.
Thanks to his courage, the castle became known as the place that helped protect part of the Vatican’s treasures.

Today, the owners of the castle offer guided tours to explore this fascinating story in depth.
Guests can step inside the historic rooms, hear the tales passed down through generations, and climb up to the panoramic tower, which offers breathtaking views over the estate and the surrounding countryside.
